Navigating the Choppy Waters of Organizational Conflict Part I

Harper Center, Room 3028

Thursday, May 18, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

All employees are welcome to attend this interactive session facilitated by Dr. Kathy Gonzales from Creighton's Werner Institute! Conflict in an organization is not unexpected. When an organization is experiencing change—whether of its leadership, its operating practices or business strategies—conflict may be heightened and it becomes critical for members of the organization to not only be able to recognize the causes of the conflict but also to be able to engage with the conflict effectively in order to promote better understanding of the changes which are happening and to keep the implementation process on track. This workshop will combine short lectures, videos, games and an intensive practice session where participants will be given opportunities to practice the skills which they have been taught. Participants will leave with a heightened sense of confidence in their ability to recognize and appropriately manage conflict situations which accompany an organization’s adaptation to a changing climate. At the end of this session, participants will be able to identify common causes of conflict within the organizational change process, apply different techniques to build trust in their team, and distinguish between different processes for conflict engagement.
