"Climate Change: Morphing into an Existential Threat" featuring V.R. Ramanathan

V.R. Ramanathan is the Victor Alderson Professor of Applied Ocean Sciences and director of the Center for Atmospheric Sciences at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego. He is a world renowned and pioneering figure in the history of climate science. In 2014, Foreign Policy magazine named him as one of the 100 most influential thought leaders in the world. In addition to the many awards and honors bestowed upon him, including being elected to the National Academy of Sciences, he was appointed by Saint John Paul II to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in 2004, advised Pope Francis on his ecological encyclical Laudato Si’, and represented the Holy See at the United Nations Climate Negotiations in 2015 and 2016.

His lecture is part of the “Planetary Emergency Lecture Series,” which is funded by the 2016 Creighton Global Initiative. It is advised to arrive early because there could be a large crowd.
