Facilitator: Guy McHendry, PhD, Associate Professor of Communication Studies & Director of the Magis Core Undergraduate Curriculum, College of Arts and Sciences, CFE Faculty Associate
What do we want students to learn? What should students know after they leave our programs? These should be easy questions, but often we struggle to create outcomes that are clear to students and that enable us to measure student learning. In this session we will discuss why Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) are important, how to write them effectively, and how they can make assessment more manageable.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
• Articulate best practices for SLO design.
• Develop effective SLOs for your courses and/or program.
• Evaluate your current SLOs to identify opportunities for improvement.
