Tuesday, September 24, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Virtual – Register in Bridge - https://learning.creighton.edu/learner/training/d089a90c/sessions/2427/enroll
Facilitator: Angel Ogbeide, DDS, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School of Dentistry, CFE Faculty Associate

This program is designed to engage faculty from all disciplines. Content narratives are primarily centered around clinical health sciences. The 55-word story is a branch of narrative medicine that is used to enhance wellbeing through improved levels of insight and emotional clarity, especially when presented with difficult situations with which faculty are often presented but have limited outlets to facilitate meaning or significance from these experiences. Example experiences include professionalism issues, racism, sexism, and moral injury. The objective of this workshop is to teach faculty how to write a 55-word story and demonstrate how it can help with wellness and professional development.
By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
• Describe the history of 55-word stories.
• Discuss the research behind the use of narrative writing for improvement in provider wellness.
• Write a 55-word story.
• Outline steps to submit to scientific journals that publish 55-word stories.
